Are you leaving a pawprint?

In a world where human activity dramatically impacts our environment, loss of natural resources, habitat degradation and ongoing problems. We have to rethink our consumption.
“Fast fashion” is an expression we usually hear, however, What does it really mean? Especially in the PET industry. Do our pooches impact the environment? Does it affect other animals? Let’s drive to it!

What is Fast-Fashion?

Fast Fashion refers to the growing popularity of rapidly produced and consumed, cheap and low-quality clothes are usually designed to move forward and purchase a new one to meet fast-changing trends.

The process is simple! A product with cheap materials, fast manufacturing time with basic operations gives a result to sell and consume as quickly as possible.

Fast fashion is one of the most damaging industries for the environment, responsible for 10% of global carbon emissions and 20% of global wastewater. (UNEP, 2021)

What about the Pet Industry?

Unfortunately, fast fashion has been applied to pet accessories too. Most dog products are designed to have a short life. It is common to see low-quality pet products with new colours and designs every week. Therefore you’ll be forced to purchase a new trend again and again.

The impact is growing every time and without paying attention to it, we are contributing to environmental degradation. Besides, endangered animals suffer the consequences as well. The fur and leather trade threatens many animal species that should be protected. Reptiles, kangaroos, ostriches, beavers, wild cats, bears, antelopes and more; are hunted and used in fashion.

We should protect wildlife species from extinction.

What can we do?

Production and consumption models need to change.

  • As a consumer, shop for quality over quantity.
Choosing sustainable and durable products, repairing and recycling are great options to avoid fast fashion.
Nearly  3 in 5 garments end up in landfills, oceans, or an incinerator within just one year of being produced. However, high-quality materials are designed to discourage excessive consumption and waste.
  • As a producer, high-quality and sustainable materials need to be used to minimize waste while enabling evolving fashion trends; this is our mission.

Since Puccissimé Pet Couture started, we have dedicated a lot of time to design our dog accessories and we have made it our goal to create quality products.

That’s why we chose vegan leather and high-quality fabrics and hardware for our handmade products and manufacture them locally, 100% Canadian.

We love to see our pooches happy and stylish and buying their accessories doesn’t need to be an overwhelming decision. Quite the opposite, we just have to be conscious.

In the end, we love dogs and having products that come from another animal doesn’t sound too logical.

We are still making efforts to eliminate as many waste by-products as possible. Each year, Puccissimé donates 10% of its profits to charities that help kids and animals. Most of which have been going to "Paradise Charity Group" and  SPCA Animal Shelter.

Our passion for dogs and animals means we pride ourselves on our products being cruelty-free.

We hope you and your four-legged furriends will enjoy our products as much as we enjoy making them.

Let's make the world a better place and look great doing it.
